HISTORY

Walton was laid out as a town site in December 1871 by William Mathews. The first buildings constructed were William Mathews house, general store, railroad section house. Because  of there being some difficulty in obtaining a perfect title to the lots, the place remained dormant until J.F. Watson filed a plat of the town in 1876.
